If you, just like me, enjoyed the vampire flick “30 Days of Night” (2007), you will be pleased to read that the sequel is on its way. Although, the firs one had something that this follow up seems to lack. A cast that stand out… I’m no Josh Hartnett fan but he’s is a good actor and his participation in the movie made it a little bit more… serious. Of course, Danny Huston was great! And last but not least – Ben Foster. Now, I’ve said it before but it’s worth saying again. The guy is a fantastic, intense and completely brilliant actor.

But, this post was about the sequel…

Dark Horizons reports that principal photography has already started in Vancouver for “30 Days of Night: Dark Days“, the sequel to the vampire movie based on the cult-hit graphic novel series by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith. The movie marks director Ben Ketai’s first feature film. The cast includes Kiele Sanchez, Diora Baird, Rhys Coiro, Mia Kirshner, and Harold Perrineau.

The sequel takes place a year since the Alaskan town of Barrow’s population was decimated by vampires during its annual month long sunset. Riddled with grief over the death of her husband, bound by nightmares and void of all emotions beyond hate and sorrow, Stella (Sanchez) has spent the past months traveling the world, trying to convince others that vampires exist. Met with skepticism and laughter, Stella is ready to throw in the towel when a group of lost souls (Coiro, Baird and Perrineau) offers an incredible opportunity: the chance to exact revenge upon Lilith (Kirshner), the vampire queen responsible for the assault on her sleepy Alaskan town. With nothing remaining to live for, and nothing left to fear, Stella joins their mission and ventures into the uncharted underbelly of Los Angeles where she pushes herself to the most extreme limits to stop the evil from striking again.

Just reading this makes me very… hesitant. The setting in Alaska, with the cold and snow was very creepy… Los Angeles? Well, time will tell.
