Bale joins Wahlberg in Prisoners

I haven’t heard o read anything ’bout Christian Bale since his little… mishap became front page news. Yes, that was one nasty little outburst we were invited to listen to. Well, in his defense, he did apologize so hopefully we don’t have to hear more of that, from him, or any of his colleagues.

Anyway, the Risky Biz Blog tells us that Bale will most likely join Mark Wahlberg in the upcoming thriller “Prisoners” which Bryan Singer may potentially direct. Interesting match up.

Aaron Guzikowski’s script follows a small-town carpenter who butts heads with a young, brash detective in charge of the investigation of his missing six-year-old daughter and her friend.

The father is a Bible-reading, deer-hunting survivalist. The cop, meanwhile, can’t wait to get to the city. Feeling failed by the law, the father captures the man he believes responsible and begins to torture him in a desperate attempt to find out what he did with the girls, whom he’s convinced are still alive.

That’s the basic setup. There’s a lot more there, the two leads have great arcs and the supporting players, especially the mothers, have juicy parts. The script is dark, Disney ain’t touchin’ this one,  and a real page-turner.
