Bourne reboot with a young Jason Bourne?

I just barely recuperated from the whole “Spider-Man” incident and now I’m faced with another “let’s make reboot and cast a younger actor“… Hey, guess why the films were such a hit? Mainly 3 important factors: the script, the director and the cast. Without either one of the 3 ingredients missing out, I wouldn’t be writing this ’cause “Spider-Man 2” and “Spider-Man 3” wouldn’t have been made in the first place.
Anyway, Speaking at the UK premiere for “Invictus“, actor Matt Damon said that instead of another sequel, Universal’s lucrative “Bourne” franchise may get a prequel/reboot revolving around a young Jason Bourne. Dark Horizons tells us Damon said that “There will probably be a prequel of some kind with another actor and another director before we do another one, just because I think we’re probably another five years away from doing it – we’ve got to get a script.”
As previously reported, the series has hit major stumbling blocks of late with director Paul Greengrass having exited the project and a lot of talk of script problems. Despite Damon’s comments, a prequel to the series followed by a sequel to ‘Ultimatum’ seems extremely unlikely.
Ultimately the studio will choose one or the other. The sequel is looking more and more uncertain due to many issues. The prequel/reboot would be ideal for the studio cost/control-wise but story wise is impractical as it would have to be set in the character’s pre-Treadstone Green Beret days (i.e. before he became ‘Jason Bourne’).
The other concern is that people associate Damon and Bourne as one and the same. Hey, guess what – that also goes for Tobey as “Spider-Man“…

Matt Damon is awesome as Robert Ludlums ‘Jason Bourne. Is it correct he is going to play the father in the Young Bourne movie ‘Fledgling Jason Steed’. The original author Robert Ludlum passed away in 2001, before the young Jason Bourne was finished. He was working with young adult author Mark A. Cooper with the young bourne series. However since Ludlums death, his publishers gave permission to Eric Van Lustbader to continue writing the Bourne series. They have since flopped, Cooper continued to write the young Jason Bourne series, however had to change the name name of the character to ‘Jason Steed’.
Robert Ludlums widow is delighted with the young Jason Steed series and has written the forward in the second Jason Steed book ‘Boudica’. The first film “Fledging Jason Steed’ is to start filming in the fall of 2011. I heard a rumor that Matt Damon was to play Jason Steed’s father, is this correct?
Jason Steed film is in the works, however it looks like Karate Kid 2010 star Jaden Smith will play ‘Jason Steed’ in the film Fledgling.
If it is as succesful at his current film with Jackie Chan, he could star in the Jason Steed series.
