Yesterday, going home from work, I read that Brendan “Mummy Hunter” Fraser is up for the titular role in the Harrison Ford-led drama “Crowley.” Brenda Fraser… It’s obvious he can act. He’s very talented and he has shown us, on several pictures, that he is a very fine actor. But, unfortunately, he has also made quite a few… silly movies. And some projects tend to linger in our minds indefinitely. I blame his agent. I blame it on the “casting people.” Sure, some of you might enjoy his work in say “George of the Jungle” (1997) but personally I find that sort of projects a bit on the goofy side. But in all honesty, that movie dramatically altered Fraser’s career so I’m sure he doesn’t have any regrets.
Anyway, Dark Horizons reports that “Crowley” is based on the true story of John and Aileen Crowley, whose two children had a rare genetic disorder. Rather than give up hope that nothing could help his children, John Crowley found a researcher (played by Harrison Ford) with a potential cure.
The story is inspired by Geeta Anand’s book “The Cure.” Shooting is slated to begin in April in Portland.
