Almost one year ago, give or take a few days, I posted about James Cameron’s enormous movie project “Avatar“. Back then the movie just had a name and a release date. But we were all excited, giggling like schoolgirls just thinking about Cameron directing a sci-fi movie with a budget that would fit 4 “normal” movies… Today, I have the pleasure to give you an update.
Dark Horizons reports that director James Cameron has wrapped principal photography on the highly anticipated 3D sci-fi tale “Avatar”.
He says most of the live action portion of the movie is already cut and “It’s starting to look and sound like a movie. I’m ecstatic with the performances and the look. The cast chemistry worked out perfectly.”
In terms of the effects, he says “The Weta animators are ON FIRE, and seeing the world and the creatures come to life is what keeps us going. There’s a spirit on this film, an esprit de corps amongst the virtual team, that comes from knowing we’re doing something absolutely groundbreaking… I can say with absolute certainty that you will see stuff you’ve never imagined.”
Cameron is currently in New Zealand working on the effects which make up a significant portion of the flick’s $200 million budget.
