Sometimes I feel a need to stretch out and tell you about other areas of Hollywood. Like today. Today I’m gonna give you the latest news from the TV industry. That’s right. TV. Well ok, there is a VERY close connection to movie making since the TV show I’m posting about today is based on a hit movie. What movie? Read on… Variety reports that David Nutter has signed on to direct and exec produce the pilot of “Eastwick.” Yes, that is correct, it’s an adaptation of the 1987 hit movie “The Witches of Eastwick.” Jack Nicholson was brilliant in the movie adaptation of the late American novelist John Updike’s novel.

Given David Nutter’s batting average (14-for-14 in helming pilots that have earned series pickups), he has no shortage of pilot offers at this time of year. “Eastwick,” about three women who discover they have supernatural powers after a mysterious man arrives in their small town, appealed to him because of the strength of the concept that scribe-exec producer Maggie Friedman has developed for the series.

She has come up with an amazing starting-off point — I can really see where the series is going to go,” Nutter says.  “She’s got a great bedrock of characters and a great mystery.”
