De Niro and Pacino team up for Righteous Kill

Right now, as I’m writing this, Russell Gewirtz (“Inside Man“, “Labyrinth“) is writing the screenplay for the upcoming movie “Righteous Kill,” a $60 million thriller starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino as two detectives tracking a serial killer.

Dark Horizons reports that unlike their other collaborations, “The Godfather Part II” and the single scene (well there’s the dying scene in the end…) in “Heat” (1995), this one has them onscreen together throughout the entire movie. Well almost.

Rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is in final negotiations to co-star as a drug dealer who helps the detectives with their investigation.

Director Jon Avnet is set to begin principal photography in September.
