Robert De NiroIt’s time to announce the re-teaming of the giants. Dark Horizons reports that Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese will re-team for feature film adaptation of Don Winslow’s “The Winter of Frankie Machine”.

De Niro will play Mafia hit man who has given up the game to become the proprietor of a bait shop. But he discovers that he’s been targeted for a hit, and is forced to return to the business.

Martin Scorsese will direct the film under his deal with Paramount, whilst “Ocean’s Thirteen” screenwriters Brian Koppelman and David Levien wrote the screenplay.

The downside, if such a thing exists, is that the mob theme of the movie isn’t oozing of freshness… In the words of Cinematical: “…Hollywood should take its mob train and let it collect dust in a yard for awhile…”

That about sums it up for me. With all respect to De Niro and Scorsese, of course…
