Monday… Ok, to kick the week of I was thinking, why not give the readers some juicy news (possibly rumors) about the harsh reality in Hollywood?
Ever heard of a movie titled “Twilight“? Of course you have. And as most of you know, the movie is based on the writings of author Stephenie Meyer. Twilight is the first one in the vampire/werewolf saga. Now that everyone is up-to-date I will get to the juicy stuff… Dark Horizons reports that Summit Entertainment, in an official announcement, says that Catherine Hardwick will not be directing “New Moon“, the next installment in the “Twilight” film franchise.
The move comes as a big surprise considering that despite weak reviews, the box-office for the first “Twilight” has exceeded all expectations.
Officially the move is being explained as a matter of timing – Summit has aggressive time frame plans for the franchise and is keen to get the sequel out in cinemas by late 2009/early 2010. That schedule “does not work with Ms. Hardwicke’s required prep time to bring her vision of the film to the big screen” according to Summit CEO Rob Friedman.
Unofficially though, the word is that “Summit didn’t like her. They’re saying the director of photography Elliot Davis is the one responsible for the film’s sumptuous visual look, that the editor Nancy Richardson had to save the film in post-production.”
That’s a nice thank you from Summit. The movie has already made like $140,000,000. Poor effort Hardwick. Yeah right…
