Hitman, the hugely successful video game franchise is now on its way to a movie theather near you. Dark Horizons reports that the shooting begins today on the action thriller “Hitman“, directed by Xavier Gens. The main shooting will take place in and around the Bulgarian capital of Sofia for a total of 12 weeks. A second unit will shoot in locations including South Africa, Istanbul, St. Petersburg and London.
Timothy Olyphant (most of you know him from “Deadwood“) stars in the title role as Agent 47. Now some of you are wondering; who’s Agent 47? He’s a trained killer. Aducated to become a professional assassin for hire, whose most powerful weapons are his nerve and a resolute pride in his work. 47 is both the last two digits of the barcode tattooed on the nape of his neck, and his only name.
The hunter becomes the hunted when 47 gets caught up in a political takeover. Both Interpol and the Russian military chase agent 47 across Eastern Europe as he tries to find out who set him up and why they’re trying to take him out of the game…
Personally I loved the computer games and making this movie as a “tribute” is very exciting. But as always – the computer game to movie road is a narrow one and VERY few have succeeded…
