I dedicate this post to all you horror fans out there. For many of you, the “Elm Street” franchise is one of the strongest shining stars in the horror genre. Freddy Krueger is, and will always be, one of the most charismatic (yeah, sort of) and scary killer/monster of all time. The trades tells us that the long-rumored Jackie Earle Haley is now locked in to play the new Freddy Krueger in New Line Cinema remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”
The original series portrayed Freddy as a child killer who was burned to death in his own shack by the parents of the murdered kids. Years later when the remaining kids in the area have grown up into teens, he comes back in their dreams and starts brutally killing them.
The screenplay was written by Wesley Strick and the remake will be directed by Samuel Bayer. Filming kicks off May 5th in Chicago for release next April.
Ah… This story brings back some sweet childhood memories. I still remember the first time I saw Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” Extremely gory and full of over the top deaths scenes. “Elm Street” brought something new to the Horror genre, and will go down in history in recognition of this.
