Jason Statham joins G.I. Joe cast

Jason StathamWhen I woke up this morning (visously pulled back to the real world by the frikkin’ alarm clock) and I realized it wasn’t saturday, I got… very disappointed. Very. I staggered in to the shower feeling far from friendly but then suddenly I started to think about Will Ferrell’s skating scenen in the beginning of “Blades of Glory” and just like that – Wham! I started to giggle and what do you know – the notion of going to work wasn’t suddenly a totally repulsing thought.

Now isn’t that a sweet bedtime story for the young ones? The magic of cinema. A beautiful thing.

Sorry about that. On with the news. I have an update on the upcoming “G.I. Joe” film adaptation. Dark Horizons reports that whilst Mark Wahlberg is still the first choice to play “Duke” in the “G.I. Joe” film adaptation, now comes word that Jason Statham is the first choice for Joe’s British sidekick “Action Man“.

Skip Woods script was apparently written with Wahlberg and Statham specifically in mind and they are the first choice for “Duke” and “Action Man”. Elements of Woods’ script and another one are being used for the new final draft.

Meanwhile it’s been revealed that Stephen Sommers will not be directing the project after he apparently demanded too much money for the gig.

Stephen, Stephen, Stephen… Do you really need THAT much money? (I have no idea how much money Stephen wants but I’m guessing it’s more then you and I make in say… a lifetime?)

Whatever happened to “pro bono”? For the public good?
