John McTiernan directing Karl Urban in Run

This particular piece of news brought a big smile to my face. Variety.com reports that filmmaker John McTiernan (“Predator”, “Die Hard”) the king of 80s action cinema, will be directing “Run”, a $30 million action-thriller to star Karl Urban.

Urban plays an Interpol agent who, while pursuing a murder suspect, uncovers a fraud conspiracy. The actioner’s script reportedly has 100 pages of car chases. The shooting will start in August.

This is, in the words of Moviehole.net, McTiernan returning to do what he does best: blow shit up; pit a lone hero against a circle of thugs, and capture it all in that beautiful-looking widescreen fashion of his.
