Naomi WattsToday I’m gonna bring you an update on the prequel to “The Da Vinci Code“. It’s been a while since I wrote something about the upcoming “Angels & Demons” so here you go:

Dark Horizons reports that Naomi Watts will star opposite Tom Hanks in Ron Howard’s “Angels & Demons.” In “Angels,” Robert Langdon tries to solve a murder and unravel a plot by an ancient group, the Illuminati, to blow up the Vatican.

Watts would take on the role of Vittoria Vetra, daughter of the physicist Leonardo Vetra who’s death kicks off the investigation.

Still to be cast are the key roles of Maximilian Kohler, the director of the mega-rich think tank CERN and also Carlo Ventresca, the late pope’s aide who holds office until the new pope is elected.

“Angels & Demons” will hit theaters on May 15th 2009.

To me, Naomi Watts is the woman in “The Ring” (2002). Period. No, I’m not saying she is bad choice or in any way not fit to play Vittoria Vetra. And, I’m not saying “The Ring” is such a great movie and all her other work just fades in comparison. But “The Ring” made a lasting impact and Naomi was part of that. But, I’m sure that she will be excellent opposite Tom Hanks. No really. I’m sure.
