The Scream franchise is one of my personal favorites. It’s scary, smart and funny. Wes Craven managed to balance the ingredients perfectly. And the casting was… Perfect. I still remember when I first watched “Scream“, totally clueless as to what I was about to experience. The beginning, with Drew Barrymore being chased and brutally killed… Classic. And very disturbing. For some reason I was sure this was a comedy with a scary twist. About 10 minutes in to the movie I knew I was in for something completely different. Anyway, brilliant trilogy and I’m eagerly awaiting the new trilogy (that’s the word on the street).

Dark Horizons tells us that actress Neve Campbell says that she’s “pretty sure at this stage that Wes is back on board to directa fourth “Scream.”

The actress also briefly brought up her co-stars, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, from the original trilogy – “I haven’t spoken to them in a while. I’m sure it took a while to convince them to take part in the picture, especially because they’re now a very happy family, and of course, it was a long journey for them. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, and a lot like going back to summer camp.” She admits however she hasn’t seen a script yet – “No. Not yet. They had to wait for us all to sign on. I suppose that’s the way these days.”

Shooting is apparently slated to start in mid-April.
