It’s Friday and the sun is shining. What could possibly be better then some hardcore action news? A day at the beach, I admit sound better, but before we run into the sun and embrace our weekend I have something juicy for you…

Dark Horizons reports that filming is underway on “Ninja Assassin.” The film is being directed by James McTeigue and Joel Silver and the Wachowski brothers are producing. Rather promising, right?

Ninja Assassin stars Korean pop star Rain (from “Speed Racer“) as the central character, Raizo; legendary martial arts performer Sho Kosugi as the ruthless leader of the Ozunu Clan; and Rick Yune as Raizo’s rival, Takeshi.

Sound like we’re up for some serious martial arts here folks… Here’s the story in short:

Ninja Assassin follows Raizo (Rain), one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge. 
  In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (played by Naomie Harris) has stumbled upon a underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East. Her investigation makes her a target, and the Ozunu Clan sends a team of killers. Raizo saves Mika from her attackers, but he knows that the Clan will not rest until they are both eliminated…

All in all it sound like a promising popcorn flick. I’ll keep you updated on the project as soon as I hear something.
