I just recently watched as the brilliant actor Noah Wyle wrapped his 15-year turn as John Carter on “ER.” It struck me that you really like that character. It was kind of sad to see the last episode, but in the same time I was tired of the whole concept. But still, Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle’s character)… he kind of grew on you. With that in mind, I felt this big bubble of joy in my chest (I can write that, I’m very in touch with my feminine side) when I saw that the former “ER” star has signed as the lead in TNT’s untitled alien-invasion pilot, marking a reunion with producer Steven Spielberg.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that the project, written by Robert Rodat from an idea he conceived with Spielberg, is set shortly after aliens have wiped out most of the human population. Wyle will play the leader of a ragtag group of soldiers and civilians who struggle against the occupying alien force.
“It is a privilege to be starting a second series with Noah,” said Spielberg, whose company was behind “ER.” “The first didn’t do too badly.”
TNT had been looking to extend into series its relationship with Wyle, whom TNT head of programming Michael Wright called “an incredibly talented actor and an extraordinary person.” Wyle has starred in four original films for the cable network: the “Librarian” action-adventure franchise, which spawned three movies, and “Pirates of Silicon Valley.”
“I couldn’t feel more at home,” Wyle said.
Good for you Noah!
