About a month ago I posted about Roland Emmerich’s next project with the sexy title - ”2012.” With John Cusack on board as the male lead it was just a waiting game… Who would get the lead female part? The wait is over people. The beautiful Amanda Peet has landed the female lead in Roland Emmerich’s epic disaster project titled “2012,” which Emmerich himself co-wrote with Harald Kloser.
Peet is joining a strong ensemble cast led by John Cusack that includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover and Oliver Platt.
The plot revolves around a global cataclysm and the heroic struggle of the survivors. Peet is playing Cusack’s ex-wife, newly married to a wealthy man. Cusack plays a divorced father trying to become a writer while holding a job as a limo driver.
Barring an actors strike, the movie will shoot this summer. The release date for “2012″ is July 10, 2009.
On a side note, The “casting procedures” in Hollywood can at times seem… more than coinsidental. When I saw Cusack and Peet mentioned in the same movie I knew I’d recently seen them together somewhere. Martian Child (2007). Is that just coinsidental or is there some kind of recycling of “on screen duos”? It doesn’t necessarily have to be bad thing but it gives me a feeling of… Laziness and poor creativity on the casting side.
