Got some news from MoviesOnline. Remember Renny Harlin? The finnish director who brought us: “Die Hard 2” (1990), “Cliffhanger” (1993) and “The Long Kiss Goodnight” (1996)? Yeah, he was big in the 90′s… Unfortunately the last 10 years or so it’s been a bit rather quiet from Renny. Sure, he did “Mindhunters” (2004) which was pretty great actually but he hasn’t dominated the action scene like he used to.
Anyway, things are about to change. Now comes a $35million action spectacular in the style of current blockbusters 300 and Sin City. The new movie is called “Brodie’s Law“. The movie is based on the comic book series with the same name. Brodie’s Law takes place in the gritty underworld, nightclubs and dark alleys of the seedy metropolitan area of London, with an atmosphere akin to the city in The Crow, with a similar portrayal of Blade Runner’s Los Angeles.
The story in short: Jack Brodie, a prison-hardened thief hopes that a corporate espionage gig will be his ticket to a better life with his drug addicted wife and their son. The heist goes awry, but Brodie escapes with a secret project: the chemical formula PM13. He discovers that the heist was a setup; his wife has been killed and his son kidnapped. Fueled by revenge Brodie infects himself with the formula, gaining the ability to absorb human DNA and take on the physical form and mind of whoever he touches…
Sounds ok to me. We know that Renny has the gift and with this budget and the fact that he can lean on the comic book for inspiration this could be really good stuff.
