Russell Crowe as Sherlock Holmes

Now here’s some messed up news. MoviesOnline reports that Mr Gladiator himself, Russell Crowe is going to play Sherlock Holmes in the near future. Yes, unfortunately you heard me right. Talk about a casting disaster. I’m sure Russell can do “something” with the part but but lets face it – he ain’t a Sherlock kind of actor. Neil Marshall is attached to the project as the director. This is also kind of weird. Neil is one of the best horror directors out there and now he’s is doing a Sherlock Holmes movie (based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyles famous novel).
Some of you might say – Neil Marshall? Who’s Neil Marshall? His most famous work include “Dog Soldiers” (2002) and “The Descent” (2005). Ring a bell?
It will be very interresting to see what Neil can do with this type of material. It will truly be a test of Neils skills as a filmmaker. But Russell Crowe as Sherlock Holmes… why?
