Ryan Reynolds talks about Deadpool

The big master plan behind “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” was to spin-off the various characters into feature film franchises of their own. The most obvious spin-off character was Ryan Reynolds‘ “Deadpool.” And despite so-so reviews and a quickly sinking rate of repeat business, ‘Wolverine’ has still managed to pull in $315 million worldwide so far. That means that those spin-off ideas are still very much in play.
Questions remain however as to whether Deadpool will remain as disfigured as he is at the end of “Wolverine” or whether he’d somehow return to Reynold’s boyishly handsome good looks. Additionally, it’s unclear who the character’s protagonist would be and when the film would take place. So many questions…
Speaking during an interview with HitFix for “The Proposal,” Reynolds shed more light on the project saying, “Well, I’m intimately involved with it. We’re just trying to break a story right now and figure out who the villain is going to be and all that stuff. But, it’s going to be just like the comic books. I’m gonna have a messed up face and you may see some flashbacks of Wade earlier in his life, but primarily what you see is what you get in the comics and that’s the goal. And there is no better place to draw material from then the comics which are incredible.”
Ryan Reynolds… I fell in love with him the first time I saw “Van Wilder.” Great film! If you enjoy “campus comedies,” and have a thing for films like “Old School” or “Harold and Kumar” – you will love “Van Wilder”. You can take that to the bank!
