One of the hottest young actors in Hollywood right now must be Shia LaBeouf. With both “Disturbia” (2007) and “Transformers” (2007) in the baggage – and the upcoming “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” – Shia is truly the man of the hour. Of course, it doesn’t stop there. Dark Horizons reports that Shia LaBeouf has signed on to star in Universal Pictures techno thriller “Dark Fields“.
Based on Alan Glynn’s 2002 novel, the story centers on a young man who gets his hands on a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes you smarter.
He experiences sudden financial and social success but soon discovers that the drug has lethal and lasting side effects, including “trip-switching,” a phenomenon in which time moves with a stop-motion quality.
Leslie Dixon (“Hairspray“) adapted the screenplay and will produce, whilst Neil Burger (“The Illusionist“) will direct.
I, for one, was very surprised when I watched the movie “Disturbia”. I don’t think I’d seen Shia act before and it was a true pleasure. Sure, to be honest, “Disturbia’s” success is a caused by many factors (the script, the director, the editing) but young Mr LaBeouf really made an impact on me – and you, I’m sure. I’m certain we’ll see much more of him in the coming decades.
