Sienna MillerThe amount of rumors and reliable sources that have produced news around this project is… hilarious. But finally we have a substantial piece of news (from a reliable source) and today I present some real news on “G.I. Joe”.

Variety reports that Sienna Miller is the first to sign up for Paramount Pictures’ big-budget tentpole “G.I. Joe.”
British actress will play the film’s female lead, described as a raven-haired baroness and sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage.

Story is set at Brussels-based GIJOE, an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer.

Stephen Sommers directs the live-action film based on the Hasbro toys, comicbook and TV series.

Paramount, which has set a mid-February start date, has slotted the film for an Aug. 7, 2009, release.

Not a bad choice. Sienna is both beautiful and talented. I saw her just recently in “Alfie” and “Stardust” and she impressed me. Many times, I’m sad to say, I tend to assume that beautiful women often ends up in in front of the camera because of their looks. Fortunately that isn’t always true. Well, I’m sure their good looks puts them there but it’s their talent that keeps them there.
