The Departed sequel?

Mark WahlbergEver since The Departed premiered and people were blown away by the tight script and the excellent cast, the classic sequel-rumor has been floating around the Internet. UK Teletext spoke with Mark Wahlberg, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role, about the rumor and he said:

Until I’m actually on the set it’s not happening. It’s about as confirmed as The Italian Job sequel, The Brazilian Job. Until we can make it better than the first one it’s not worth discussing. An then he adds: I’ve never done a sequel before, there’s only a couple I can think of that were as god as the first ones – The Godfather.

So there you have it. No sequel. Ever. Probably.

    Since the asian original has like 2 or 3 sequels there probably gonna be a number 2. And a number 3….

    That would be without Mark Wahlberg then. Considering his last quote:

    “I’ve never done a sequel before, there’s only a couple I can think of that were as god as the first ones – The Godfather.”

    He’s right. However, he forgot to mention Aliens…
