The scoop on the fourth Bourne

You can always count on the movie industri to not keep it’s promises. Everytime there’s a trilogy or any form of sequels involved you are always told “this is the last part- it’s safe to say goodbye to the hero now.” And because of the simple fact that it IS a trilogy the saga has probably made a killing at the box office. So why stop?
And still it’s the same song from the director, lead actors and their publicists. Some of us actually buy it. Everytime. After “The Bourne Ultimatum” Matt Damon said, and I quote “The Bourne thing I’m definitely done with.” Turns out Matt wasn’t done with “Bourne”… Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad. I think the Bourne trilogy is a phenomenal example of intelligent action. Talk about adrenaline rush! What’s not to like?
Anyway, Coming Soon tells us that the next “Bourne” film may be going back to the books for its storyline thanks to Universal’s recent first look deal for late author Robert Ludlum’s oeuvre.
“We now have access to all the Ludlum story ideas. We’re going to make the fourth movie from them” says producer Frank Marshall who confirms that both he and scribe George Nolfi are the only ones signed onto the project for the moment.
Despite using the same titles as the books, it’s really only the first half of “The Bourne Identity” that was notably similar to the book. The subsequent Paul Greengrass-directed sequels bared little to no relation to the Bourne books.
Now, in a move similar to the James Bond franchise, elements from other novels by Ludlum will be incorporated into a fourth film’s story. According to Frank Marshall it will be the spy fiction thriller “The Parsifal Mosiac” that will likely serve as the main thrust of a fourth film’s story.
In ‘Mosaic’, an American spy falls in love with another spy who is revealed to be a double agent just before her death. When he retires from the business, he learns she may still be alive and sets out to learn the truth.
To sum it up – there is a fourth movie in the makings and we are all happy about that. We are a little put off by the constant charade after every movie telling us it’s the last one.
