In the aftermath of the controversial finale to HBO’s “The Sopranos” the rumors about “The Sopranos – The Movie” heated up again. The rather open-ended final restaurant scene that aired over the weekend, caused debate and disappointment.
Dark Horizons reports that in the ensuing fallout however, talk has turned rife as to a movie spin-off despite executive producer Brad Grey already telling Deadline Hollywood Daily that “There is absolutely no discussion of the movie.”
Series creator David Chase, in his only post-finale interview, told The New Jersey Star-Ledger that “I don’t think about (a movie) much. I never say never. An idea could pop into my head where I would go, ‘Wow, that would make a great movie,’ but I doubt it… I’m not being coy…If something appeared that really made a good `Sopranos’ movie and you could invest in it and everybody else wanted to do it, I would do it. But I think we’ve kind of said it and done it.”
As for that finale – “I have no interest in explaining, defending, reinterpreting, or adding to what is there” he says.
All I can say is: I’ll miss you Sopranos. Definitely one of the best TV-shows ever made.
