Tobey Maguire drives for Ferrari in “The Limit”

So what is  Tobey Maguire is up to these days (except getting prepared for “Spider-Man 4“)? Dark Horizons reports that Maguire will produce and potentially star in the race car-themed drama “The Limit” for Sony Pictures.

Based on Michael Cannell’s upcoming book, “Limit” tells the story of real-life friends and rivals Phil Hill and Wolfgang von Trips, two Grand Prix drivers on the Ferrari team, who are pitted against each other during the 1961 Drivers Championship.

Maguire would play Hill and produce with Jenno Topping. Anthony Peckham is attached to pen the screenplay and Sony is in final negotiations to preemptively acquire the film rights.

I think I have figured out how Tobey chooses his films. First he played he a jockey (in “Seabiscuit“). Now he’s going for a race car driver. What’s left? I’m guessing submarine captain or pilot. Yeah, definitely a pilot. “Top Gun 2″? Don’t take my word for it though…
