Update on The Hobbit

Today I’m gonna give all you Tolkien fans a little update on what is happening with the adaptation we are all waiting for… I think most of us fell in love with Peter Jackson’s mighty adaptation a few years ago and when the word was out that “The Hobbit” was next in line we all became… very excited! Well, beyond excited probably but I’m having trouble describing this intense feeling of anticipation.

Anyway, we’ve known for a while that Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toro’s eagerly-awaited adaptation of the Lord Of The Rings prequel, The Hobbit, would comprise two movies, due in December 2011 and 2012. But the make-up of those two movies has been up for debate… until now.

Empire: Movie News spoke exclusively to both Del Toro and Jackson recently and they said… “We’ve decided to have The Hobbit span the two movies, including the White Council and the comings and goings of Gandalf to DolGuldur ,” says Del Toro. “We decided it would be a mistake to try to cram everything into one movie,” adds Jackson. “The essential brief was to do The Hobbit, and it allows us to make The Hobbit in a little more style, if you like, of the LOTR-trilogy.”

Pssst! All you LOTR fans – the Blu-ray version of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy is set to hit the shelves later this year! Wait, just so you know, the extended editions are being saved for an ‘Ultimate Box Set’, closer to the release of “The Hobbit” films.
