Warcraft movie delayed

About fourteen months ago I posted about the upcoming movie adaptation that had been anounced at BlizzCon. The movie is to be live action film, with a yet to be determined level of computer generated environments and effects.

Back then the team annonunced that they were working toward a 2009 release, but now it seems as if Blizzard’s film adaptation of the Warcraft franchise isn’t likely to arrive next year.

Shacknews reports that when Blizzard president Mike Morhaime was asked about the film he said: “I don’t know about the 2009 date, but it is still something we are very excited about. We do have a draft of a script, it isn’t final,” he added. “I think we still need to do a lot of work.

Maybe, just maybe they should have moved faster with this project. World of Warcraft, Blizzard’s fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, has dominated the MMO scene for almost 4 years now but soon others will take their place. My guess is that the hype around the Warcraft franchise, and the movie adaptation will fade faster then Mike Morhaime can say “Horde.”
