Will Smith to produce The Karate Kid remake

Guess what folks? It’s monday! Jippi… Yeah… well I was jut like you but then suddenly, I caught a glimpse of the following news… It’s not often I read something that makes me choke on my hot tea but this one made me cough. Dark Horizons reports that a reliable source has informed them that Sony Pictures is developing a remake of “The Karate Kid” that will be produced by Will Smith’s Overbook Entertainment and Jerry Weintraub.

Will’s 9-year-old son Jaden Smith (“The Pursuit of Happyness“) is apparently attached to star in the remake.

This new Karate Kid is currently out to writers. Weintraub also produced the 1984 film, starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita, and its three sequels.

Ok… so Will is gonna make Karate Kid… That’s just weird. The question that imideately popped up in my in my head was – why? A remake of Karate Kid…
