Willis and Mitchell in The Surrogates

Before I get to the actual news I just want to make sure that everyone reading this is aware that Bruce “Die Hard” Willis is a pretty damn good actor. I think there is a misconception that he is “no-brain-action-movie-actor” that struck gold in “The Sixth Sense” and that was a one time deal. I admit, I was kind of reluctant to accept him as a serious actor but he has proven himself. I just mentioned “The Sixth Sense” but he shines once again in “Unbreakable” (2000). Possibly one of his best performances. He is excellent in “Hostage” (2005). To be fair though, Ben Foster stole the show in that one. Some more of that Bruce Willis magic can be found in the film “16 Blocks” (2006).

What’s the point with all this? Well, Mr Willis ain’t my favourite actor or anything but I just want make sure you everyone realizes he’s so much more then John McClane. Back to the news:

Dark Horizons reports that Radha Mitchell will star opposite Bruce Willis in the sci-fi action-thriller “The Surrogates“. Based on a graphic novel, the story is set in a near future where humans live in isolation and interact vicariously through surrogate robots who are better-looking versions of themselves.

Willis plays a cop who, through his surrogate, investigates the murders of others’ surrogates. The cop is forced to venture from his own home for the first time in years and unravels a conspiracy.

Shooting, under the direction of Jonathan Mostow will begin in Boston on April 28th for a planned release on November 20th 2009.
